T.E.D. Talks, Part 1A - Scripture: The Word of God

Sep 7, 2025    Jake Oglesby

In 1984 two men, Richard Wurman and Harry Marks, launched the first TED Talk in Monterey, California. The original focus of the conferences was Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Today, TED Talks cover almost any topic—science, education, culture, personal growth, innovation, global issues, and religion. They are delivered in a way that’s engaging, clear, and inspiring. The style is typically story-driven, visually simple, and aim to teach on a very specific topic, and are typically 18 minutes or less. If a sermon were done in a TED style, it would usually mean clear central idea, personal stories, powerful visuals—basically, no fluff, but high impact. In this sermon series, our approach will be to deliver two (2) TED Talk style sermons EACH Sunday as a Theological Edifying Discourse. Our focus will be on the key beliefs that we strongly hold on to, with a desire to teach the church the importance of each truth. This series is about teaching what we believe Scripture teaches us, and doing so in a creative and engaging way!
