Being Battle Ready

The Bible has a lot to say about the spiritual battles we face as followers of Christ. In fact, just before Jesus launched His ministry, we see where Satan tempts Jesus in the wilderness. Because of this, Jesus is our ultimate example of resisting temptation in spiritual warfare. For Jesus, the Word of God becomes the most powerful weapon against the temptations of the devil. Each temptation was fought with the words “it is written.” There are two ways people get it wrong when it comes to spiritual warfare. One is that they over-emphasize spiritual battle. The other is that they under-emphasize it. Some blame every sin, every conflict, and every problem on demons that need to be cast out. Others completely ignore the spiritual realm and the fact that the Bible tells us our battle is against spiritual powers. The key to successful spiritual warfare is finding the biblical balance. In this 6-week sermon series, we will examine the spiritual battle we face when tempted by the devil, and by the battles we face from within.
